By far the oldest book I’ve read so far. I didn’t get much from its contents, but was a curious glimpse into past interpretation of battlefields.

Most of the claims this book makes either seem like truisms hardly worth spelling out or vast generalizations of dubious utility. Wasn’t too long either, wouldn’t have read through the whole thing otherwise.

The musings on the history of book and author in the preface were more interesting that its contents.
